“We gave a great speech, and we had good responses. I can't believe it. Usually, I'm called a terrible dictator. I am a dictator. But sometimes a dictator is necessary. This time they didn’t say anything like that,” Trump reflected.
During his speech, he criticized Europe, called for negotiations regarding the purchase of Greenland, and talked about how the U.S. applied "unique combat technologies" in Venezuela.
Some other statements from the president:
- “I love Europe and wish it prosperity, but over the past decades, it has been moving in the wrong direction.”
- “We have established excellent cooperation with Venezuela. When the operation was over, they said, ‘Let’s make a deal.’ Other countries should do the same.”
- “Honestly, we are witnessing many regions of the world being destroyed before our eyes, while leaders are unaware of it, and those who understand do nothing.”
- “The U.S. has avoided the energy collapse that all European countries are facing. There are wind turbines everywhere that are destroying your land.”
- “After the war, we returned Greenland to Denmark. That was completely wrong, but we did it.”
- “Europe needs to take care of its own affairs and abandon the culture that has formed over the last 10 years. What they are doing to themselves is terrible; it leads to their destruction. We want strong allies, not weakened ones.”
- “Perhaps we won’t achieve anything if we don’t apply significant force and power regarding Greenland, but I’m not going to do that.”
- “Two weeks ago, Venezuelans witnessed weapons they had never seen before. They couldn’t shoot at us even once. They were asking what was happening. Everything was in chaos; they were saying, ‘We see it.’ They pulled the trigger, and nothing happened. The anti-aircraft missiles were not launched. One missile flew 30 feet and fell near those who launched it. They were asking, ‘What the hell is happening?’ These systems were produced by Russia and China.”
- “Imagine, these missiles will fly right over Greenland. If a war starts, the actions will take place on this piece of ice.”
- “We are creating a ‘Golden Dome’ that will protect Canada. Canada gets a lot from us for free. And, by the way, they should be grateful, but they are not. I listened to your prime minister's speech yesterday; he did not show gratitude. They should understand that Canada exists thanks to the U.S. Mark (Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney), remember this when you say something again.”
- “I have always had excellent relations with Chairman Xi and President Putin.”
- “I’ll be blunt: NATO treats the United States unfairly.”
- “Steve Witkoff is doing a great job with the Ukrainian settlement, and we will not have a Third World War.”
