Dastan Bekeshev: Young People Are Being Denied the Right to Education Due to High Contract Costs

Today, during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev raised the issue of the high cost of contracts in universities, which makes education inaccessible for young people.

In his opinion, universities have significantly increased tuition fees, which has become a barrier for many young people wishing to obtain higher education.

“Educational institutions continue to seek ways to profit at the expense of students. We barely managed to deal with the situation when money was made from absences, but now students are still forced to pay for credits. It is interesting on what legal grounds universities are introducing new rules? We need to sort out this situation,” Bekeshev noted.

It is worth mentioning that earlier the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of Kyrgyzstan called on educational institutions, regardless of their form of ownership, to cease the practice of penalizing students for absences from classes and internships.

According to reports, this recommendation is aimed at protecting students' rights, as well as establishing fair and uniform standards regarding academic discipline and preventing unjustified financial penalties in the educational system.
