The Revival of the Aral Sea

The head of state emphasized the importance of preserving the Aral Sea, mentioning Kyzylorda, a city with a rich history and potential. In his opinion, the task of saving the Aral is relevant not only for Kazakhstan but for the entire world.

The President reminded that thanks to years of efforts, the Northern Aral has been preserved, and it has already been five years since the start of the project to restore the sea. He expressed hope for the possibility of raising the water level in the Small Aral, emphasizing the need to continue restoration work both by the country’s efforts and with the help of international partners.

History, the Golden Horde, and Abai's Legacy

Tokayev noted that knowledge of history and confidence in the future are key factors for progress and the formation of patriotism. He focused on the study of the common Turkic civilization.

The President announced an international conference titled "Great Altai – the Homeland of the Turks," which will take place in September with the participation of Russian colleagues and representatives from other countries. He also noted that by the end of the year, a new academic history of Kazakhstan will be completed, based on modern scientific approaches.

"This large-scale work will be an important contribution to strengthening statehood and forming a common historical consciousness of the nation," he added, noting that the release coincides with the 35th anniversary of the country's independence.

A symposium dedicated to the Golden Horde is planned for May 2026, and this year there will also be a premiere of a series about the Golden Horde and Juchi Khan, the filming of which will be completed in the spring. "A documentary film about Jochi Khan will be ready this spring, and its premiere will take place on international platforms," Tokayev reported.

Youth, Culture, and State Symbols

The President believes that the development of cinema will help promote national culture on the world stage, especially through youth. "Today, young people are taking their first steps in the creative industry and mastering new forms of ethics and creativity. Cinema and art are becoming tools that allow our culture to be noticeable and evoke pride for the country," he noted.

Tokayev also emphasized that he is pleased to see the flag of Kazakhstan in public places, as it symbolizes the unity of the nation. However, he added that state symbols must be treated with respect, and adherence to the law should be mandatory.

AI and Digitalization

The President noted that digitalization and artificial intelligence create a new reality. "In the context of the global digital economy, the population size will likely lose its significance," he said.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that those nations that can adapt to the new reality created by artificial intelligence will be successful. He reminded that Kazakhstan is actively developing digitalization and the implementation of AI in all spheres of life, which will help the country integrate into the global digital economy.

Abduction of Brides and Family Values

The President condemned the abduction of girls, calling it a "brutal crime," and mentioned the tragedy of young Nurai in Shymkent. According to him, more than 130 appeals regarding this case have been received by the National Kurultai.

Tokayev emphasized that Nurai was subjected to threats, and in this regard, he instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs to assess the actions of the police in Shymkent. The General Prosecutor's Office is also conducting a separate investigation.

The President highlighted the need for legislative reinforcement of the institution of marriage as a voluntary union of a man and a woman. He expressed confidence that the state must protect traditional cultural values and oppose immoral models of behavior.

"However, it is necessary to avoid criminal prosecution for beliefs that differ from the state position on moral issues," he added, emphasizing that every citizen has the right to choose, and no one should impose that choice.
