Zamira Akbagysheva: Women in Kyrgyzstan Succeed in Everything They Undertake
Comprising more than 500,000 determined women, the Congress of Women of Kyrgyzstan represents the largest and most cohesive public organization in the country. The president of the congress, Zamira Akbagysheva, noted that over the past year, more than 50,000 women from various corners of Kyrgyzstan have joined the organization. This indicates the growing influence of the congress, its authority, and the unity of women around important issues for them, as well as for the development of the country as a whole. The congress serves as a promising platform for interaction among thousands of women across the country, as well as a channel for exchanging important ideas and issues of national significance.
Representatives from the diplomatic corps, international organizations, the women's business community, and leaders from various professions, including regional branches of the congress, participated in the meeting. Participants shared their projects and initiatives, which formed the basis of their activities in the past year.
The main goal of the congress is to create conditions that facilitate the realization of women's potential in various spheres of life. For example, several years ago, a project titled "Educated Woman - Educated Country" was launched in Bishkek with the support of the Chinese embassy. As its initiator Zamira Akbagysheva noted, accessible education is the first step in the fight against poverty and injustice, as well as the foundation for gender equality and women's independence. The project has proven to be in demand, making it indefinite and constantly updated, as the need for knowledge always remains.
As part of this project, a well-equipped training center for sewing masters was opened several years ago, also with the support of the Chinese embassy and the All-China Women's Federation. Hundreds of young women have undergone training and become sought-after specialists, some even starting their own businesses. The head of the center proudly noted that its popularity is growing, and last year women came to them wishing to master this in-demand profession. The congress created this center to help women become financially independent.
Another important area of activity has been the opening of an IT classroom at the Institute of History and Regional Studies of the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn for women interested in information technology. During the V International Forum of Turkic Peoples on Applied Arts, Chinese Ambassador Liu Jiangping donated laptops for the establishment of IT classrooms in all regions, where free computer literacy courses are now being held.
The Congress of Women of Kyrgyzstan is also actively working with women entrepreneurs. According to Zamira Akbagysheva, there is a growing trend of entrepreneurship in the country, with over 40% of small businesses managed by women. They strive not only to unite and exchange information about support measures but also to enter international markets. The congress assists them in this. During trips to Italy and Germany, Zamira Akbagysheva established business connections with a company producing sportswear under the brand "Macron." A tender was held in Kyrgyzstan to select a manufacturing partner, resulting in the selection of a sewing workshop to produce samples of sportswear, which were sent to Italy for quality assessment and further cooperation.
In October of last year, a forum titled "Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development" was held in Bishkek, organized by the Congress of Women of the Kyrgyz Republic and the women's community of the State Corporation "Rosatom." This dialogue confirmed that women's partnership is becoming a powerful driver of development. Women from Kyrgyzstan and Russia are ready to leverage their professional potential for the sustainable development of both economies. The head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Temir Sariev, noted at the last business forum that he admires women's ability to set priorities and see prospects while acting with high responsibility.
At the end of October, a conference was held in Bishkek to summarize the Global Women's Summit in Beijing, where Zamira Akbagysheva represented the women's community of Kyrgyzstan and shared the successes of her compatriots. Upon her return, she held a conference where participants discussed the significance of the summit and its impact on the development of the women's movement, including in Kyrgyzstan. Among the participants in the dialogue were the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of China to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping, the UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Antje Grave, and representatives of "UN Women."
The activities of the Congress of Women of Kyrgyzstan, which has been in existence for over 30 years, actively contribute to the development of women's entrepreneurship and the implementation of humanitarian, cultural, and educational projects. This fosters the unification of efforts to achieve specific social and economic indicators in the country. The positive results of the congress's work are evident, and in the near future, they may become even more noticeable if the executive power supports the initiatives of the women's movement. The plans for the current year are impressive.
- This year, our country will chair the SCO. The annual summit of the Council of Heads of State will take place in Bishkek in August. Before that, as part of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship, a forum for women from SCO countries will be held, in the organization of which the Congress of Women will actively participate. We will not let you down, as our women succeed in everything they undertake, - Zamira Akbagysheva addressed the participants of the meeting, receiving applause in response.
- This year, the strategy of our congress, as before, will focus on the self-realization of women. Every Kyrgyz woman wants to grow and develop. We will support women aspiring to business, assist in retraining and employment. An important task remains the preservation of women's health, as discussed by doctors who are members of our congress. The main thing is that our women feel protected and know that we embody a positive force.
According to Zamira Akbagysheva, among the key issues in the focus of the congress are caring for elderly women, mothers of many children, and establishing international contacts to create projects in support of women.
- Our main goal is to unite efforts and successful projects within the interests of every woman in our country. The strength of the congress lies in our women's solidarity, - concluded the president of the Congress of Women of Kyrgyzstan, Zamira Akbagysheva.
