The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Meder Abakirov, expressed concern in a conversation with U.S. Ambassador Leslie Viguerie regarding new difficulties arising in obtaining visas for citizens of the republic.

In a statement from the press service of the Kyrgyz foreign ministry, it is emphasized that the main topic of discussion was the updated requirements of the United States for B-1/B-2 visa categories. Abakirov noted that these measures complicate interactions between businessmen and hinder the development of economic ties. The Kyrgyz side called for the creation of more convenient conditions for the travel of its citizens.

Leslie Viguerie, for her part, clarified that the new requirements are not directed against Kyrgyzstan but are part of the overall U.S. immigration policy. She noted that both sides agree to seek joint solutions to facilitate visa issues.

Additionally, during the meeting, the diplomats discussed preparations for the upcoming "B5+1" forum, which will take place in Bishkek on February 4-5, as well as current bilateral relations.
