The book collection of the Naryn Library named after Jumagul Konurbayeva has exceeded 70,000 copies.
According to her, the branches are located in the eastern and western parts of the city, providing services to the population.
The library's book collection consists of 70,407 copies. In accordance with the ministry's directives, work is currently underway to remove outdated books, while there is also increasing government support for updating the collection.
Nurzat Esenkanova emphasized that the main support for the library comes from the local administration, particularly from the Naryn city hall. The library employs 19 people, of whom 17.5 are full-time positions.
“In recent years, there has been a significant increase in attention to libraries, with plans for salary increases and the implementation of reforms. We are confident that these changes will have a positive impact on the development of the sector,” she added.
Personnel policy is also under close scrutiny. The library attracts young specialists who must have relevant education. Employees undergo additional training courses. In the 2024 certification, librarians demonstrated good results.
Despite changes in attitudes towards reading, there is a growth in the number of readers, especially among young people and the elderly. Elderly readers most often choose historical literature, newspapers, and magazines. The oldest reader of the library is already over 80 years old.
To attract new readers, various events are organized, such as reading relays that involve city institutions and organizations, as well as traveling book exhibitions. New book presentations and the promotion of authors' works are also conducted.
Library staff actively interact with readers and have organized a book delivery service upon request. Now readers can order books through an app and pick them up at the nearest branch.
In accordance with the requirements of the digital age, the library actively uses social networks. Fairy tales in the format of artistic reading are created for children, published online, and are already gaining popularity, receiving thousands of views.
This initiative has proven effective in attracting young readers, and some teachers use these materials for educational purposes,” she noted.
The library also actively collaborates with kindergartens, offering recommended fairy tales to educators. Library staff have created a small studio for preparing audio and video materials.
Mass events take place not only within the library walls but also in parks during the summer, and mobile libraries contribute to an increase in the number of readers.
