In recent years, funding for the purchase of school textbooks in Kyrgyzstan has significantly increased. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Education Nadira Jusupbekova at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with science, education, innovations, culture, sports, and youth affairs.
According to her, in 2020, only 120 million soms were allocated for these needs, while by 2025 this amount has risen to 806 million soms.
Additionally, over 330,000 textbooks were printed in 2020, and by 2025, the print run exceeded 5 million 85 thousand copies. As part of cooperation with Russia, an additional 651 thousand textbooks were released.
“Currently, the level of textbook provision in schools is 84.8%. This is related to the transition to a 12-year education system, during which a large-scale recalculation and updating of the educational fund is being carried out,” she added.
Jusupbekova also clarified that from 2017 to 2024, more than 3.74 million textbooks were published in the country, and in 2025 alone, their print run exceeded 5 million copies. This total print run also includes textbooks printed in Braille.
She noted that English language textbooks for grades 3 to 9 have already been adapted and delivered to all schools in the country. The adaptation of textbooks for grades 10 to 12 is currently ongoing.
