The BGK Deputy proposed to include competitions in the games of chükö and lyanga in the school curriculum.
Surapbaev noted that modern children are practically unfamiliar with these games.
Vice Mayor Viktoria Mozgacheva added that there are already sports schools in the city focused on national sports.
She spoke about a school league that has been operating since the beginning of the academic year, conducting district stages, and at the end of the year – a city final, where national sports are also included. The winners are sent to Issyk-Kul. "Children show enthusiasm and interest," she noted.
Additionally, at the beginning of June, a sports event called "Zhetkinchek" takes place, which actively involves children with disabilities, and national sports are also introduced.
Surapbaev expressed concern that there are 119 schools in Bishkek and called on the city administration to organize events to promote national games. "Today, many children have become 'experts' in phone games, while they play football less and less. This needs to be addressed," he emphasized.
Note: Chükö is a traditional game of the Kyrgyz involving bones, also known as "upay," where children knock down the displayed chükö (alchik) and collect them in threes.
Lyanga is a popular yard game in Central Asia, where participants take turns keeping a shuttlecock, made from a piece of skin with a weight, in the air using their feet. Players must make a certain number of hits without dropping the lyanga, progressing from simple to complex, and the winner is the one who first completes all levels.
