Solar Panels and the Refusal of Wooden Furniture: 6 New Schools to Be Built in the City of Manas
According to information received by the directive of President Sadyr Japarov, this year the construction of educational facilities will begin: 20 schools in Bishkek, 10 in Osh, and 6 in Manas. All buildings are to be completed by September 1, the start of the new school year.
These plans were discussed at a meeting attended by the Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services Nurdana Oruntaev, the presidential representative in the Jalal-Abad region Tilek Tekebaev, and other officials.
Officials familiarized themselves with the projects of the new schools at the future construction sites. Developers were instructed to start work this week. It is expected that about 3 billion soms will be allocated from the republican budget for the construction of these six schools.
Oruntaev noted that the projects take into account the shortage of student places in Manas. "Construction will begin in the coming days. All buildings will meet the first category of seismic resistance. We are abandoning wooden furniture and moving to modern technologies. Schools will also be equipped with video surveillance systems and solar panels. If energy production exceeds needs, there is a possibility of selling it," he added.
Construction will be carried out without conducting tenders. "The general contractor will be the company 'Kyrgyzkurulush', while other companies will work as subcontractors. This will help avoid unnecessary tenders. 'Kyrgyzkurulush' will check estimates and documentation for each facility, which will help prevent the misappropriation of funds," the minister explained.
At secondary school No. 5 named after B. Osmonov, which is part of the municipal territorial administration 'Dostuk', an additional building for 275 places will be constructed. Currently, about 3,000 students study here, and the school administration emphasizes the need for expansion, as some classes have up to 55 students. The main building was built in 1965 and has never undergone major repairs.
This year, in addition to the new building, a complete reconstruction of the old building is planned. The presidential representative inquired about the results of the Republican Unified Testing (ORT) and urged the school director to actively develop additional clubs.
