The State Committee for National Security strengthens efforts to improve the religious literacy of the population and prevent extremism
As reported by the press service of the GKNB on February 20, the insufficient awareness of the population about the fundamentals of traditional Islam leads some citizens to become victims of the ideology of banned religious extremist organizations. These groups actively spread radical ideas that contradict the principles of a secular state and the current legislation of Kyrgyzstan.
Experts note that recruitment is carried out through social networks.
In this regard, since the beginning of the year, informational and explanatory activities have already been conducted in educational institutions such as the Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I. Skryabin, the Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I. Razakov, and the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn in Bishkek.
“Special attention is paid to increasing religious literacy, forming a critical perception of information, as well as strengthening traditional spiritual and moral values and interfaith harmony,” emphasized representatives of the GKNB.
