From February 2 to February 20, 2026, the Ministry of Defense, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, will launch a career guidance campaign in educational institutions of secondary general and vocational education across the country.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the goal of this initiative is to strengthen military-patriotic education among youth, assist in the conscious choice of future professions, and increase interest in military service, as well as in training at military educational institutions both within the country and abroad.
"Schoolchildren who have completed 9 grades can enroll in the Kyrgyz National Military Lyceum (KNML), and those who have graduated from schools, lyceums, or colleges have the opportunity to continue their education at the Military Institute of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic or at foreign military educational institutions," the agency noted.
Currently, cadets from Kyrgyzstan study at more than 30 military educational institutions located in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and China, as well as at the Military Institute of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is located in Bishkek.
"In recent years, the prestige of the military profession has significantly increased, which is related to the improvement of material and social conditions of service offered by the state. Cadets of military universities receive quality education on a free basis and are fully supported by the state," the Ministry of Defense reports.
Graduates of military educational institutions receive diplomas of higher education in their chosen specialties and guarantees of employment. Specialists with such a level of qualification are in demand not only in the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic but also in civilian organizations.
