At the Republican Specialized Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children in Bishkek, a meeting took place between parents and educators with representatives of the authorities.

Among those present were the Minister of Education Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, the First Deputy Minister of Education Mukhtarbek Baymurzaev, the Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services Bakai Turdugulov, as well as the Vice Mayor of Bishkek Victoria Mozgacheva.

Parents and teachers expressed their strong disagreement with the proposal to relocate the educational institution to the village of Tash-Döbö (Vorontsovka). They believe that this decision will lead to significant problems with accessibility and the socialization of children with visual impairments.

“The location of the school within the city limits is crucial, as most students and their families live in Bishkek and need regular access to medical, rehabilitation, and social services. Moving the educational institution outside the city will exacerbate daily logistical difficulties and create additional financial and time burdens for families, which may violate the rights of children with disabilities to equal access to education,” their statement notes.
