On January 29, a seminar was held in Bishkek, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic. The event took place as part of the project "Assessment and Improvement of the Institutional Structure in School Nutrition."

According to the Ministry, the seminar gathered participants from various departments, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, as well as representatives from the World Food Programme of the United Nations.

During the discussions, emphasis was placed on the integration of school farms into the educational process, as well as the use of these farms for practical training within the curriculum. Participants aim to develop students' skills for an environmentally sustainable lifestyle.

The project includes a comprehensive analysis of the existing regulatory framework concerning school nutrition. Sanitary and hygiene standards will be updated to meet modern requirements, and new guidelines for proper nutrition in schools are being developed based on current scientific research and traditional products of Kyrgyzstan.

In pilot educational institutions, it is planned to create demonstration plots and school gardens, which will provide students and teachers with the opportunity to implement modern agro-technologies, engage in plant cultivation, and exchange innovative experiences.

Earlier, on January 23, during a meeting between Minister of Education Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva and FAO representatives, the importance of practice-oriented learning in educational institutions was emphasized, including the creation of gardens and school farms.

As a result of the seminar, participants noted the significance of experience exchange and the continuation of practical cooperation in the development of school farms.
