In Kyrgyzstan, there are plans to integrate 'green skills' into the education system

The Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic held a meeting where Minister Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva discussed with representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) the results of cooperation for the year 2025 and key areas of work for 2026. During the conversation, special attention was paid to the integration of "green skills" into preschool, school, and initial vocational education.

The minister emphasized the need to combine practical and scientific approaches in education, as well as the importance of instilling in children an awareness of the value and benefits of the products they can grow themselves.

Among the proposals discussed at the meeting were the creation of school and preschool gardens, tree planting, organization of short courses, development of career guidance within the transition to a 12-year education system, as well as conducting environmental and educational events.

Oleg Guchgeldiev shared information about FAO projects aimed at developing school gardens, greenhouses, modernizing educational approaches in colleges, and implementing educational materials focused on the rational use of food resources.

The parties agreed on the necessity of continuing their joint work and plan to hold the next meeting in the near future.
