14 New Schools to Be Built in Bishkek with Funding from the Saudi Fund
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Minister of Construction Talant Imanakun uulu announced plans for the construction of new schools in Bishkek, funded by the Saudi Development Fund.
He emphasized that the first phase of building state educational institutions was successfully completed on December 1, 2024.
As part of this phase, 28 schools and 2 kindergartens were built across the republic. In total, 30 facilities were completed with a total cost of 30 million dollars, which were secured through a loan from the Saudi Development Fund for a term of 25 years at an interest rate of 1% per annum.
“The second phase also includes a loan agreement with the same fund for 50 million dollars at 1.5% for 25 years. These funds will be used for the construction of 14 new schools in Bishkek. This decision is due to the fact that the population of the capital is nearing 1.5 million people, which creates a significant burden on existing educational institutions,” the deputy minister added.
Imanakun uulu also noted that there are 35 schools in the Sverdlovsk district, which should accommodate 29,732 students, but in reality, 66,747 children are studying there. In the First May district, 27 schools are designed for 20,962 students, but currently, 58,000 children are enrolled. In the Lenin district, there are 36 schools with a designed capacity of 30,402 students, while 91,000 children are studying there. Finally, in the Oktyabr district, 22 schools are supposed to serve 23,000 students, but the actual number of students is 44,788 children.
