The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh advocated for the adoption of a law to develop the National University, stated Nurlanbek uulu during his visit to the educational institution on January 20.

During the visit, the speaker familiarized himself with the university's operations, where he was presented with information about current projects. According to the parliament's press service, Nurlanbek uulu also met with the university's faculty and students.

The speaker noted that the university, with its century-long history, is one of the leading educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan and confessed that he once dreamed of studying there. He emphasized that support and reforms in the field of education remain his priority.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu announced that his initiative to split the relevant ministry was successfully implemented: last year, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations were established.

He stressed that the National University, as a leader among higher educational institutions, must adapt to new conditions and work in new directions, becoming an example for other institutions. “Today, specialists with both theoretical and practical knowledge, who are well-versed in modern technologies, are extremely important. We see how the capabilities of artificial intelligence are expanding, and to effectively utilize them, it is necessary to develop a draft law regulating its application,” added the speaker.

“We will not be able to impress the world by producing airplanes like Boeing and Airbus. But in the future, our outstanding young specialists can make an impression on the world with their quality knowledge. Therefore, the university needs large-scale reforms and should be known as an educational institution focused on modern education and the development of the state language,” summarized Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu. He promised that 20 students from the Faculty of Kyrgyz Philology would receive scholarships of 20,000 soms each, and assistance of 200,000 soms would be provided to two teachers who developed a new methodology for teaching the state language.

As part of the event, modern technical equipment was handed over to the educational institution. Additionally, Tilen Omuraliev, the creator of an online portal to support educators, was presented with a modern tablet.

The meeting took place in a "question-answer" format, during which faculty and students discussed issues related to the integration of science and production, as well as the initiative to develop a draft law to elevate the status of the National University.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu supported this initiative, emphasizing that science plays an important role in the country's economy. “In developed countries, universities implement projects and receive funding, while our specialists are often attracted from abroad. It is necessary to utilize the potential of domestic scientists. We will support draft laws aimed at enhancing the status of the National University,” he noted.

Faculty members also expressed a request for salary increases. The speaker promised that soon teachers' salaries would be raised, adding that university faculty salaries should not be lower: “The earnings of educators should not be less than those of a minister. The Minister of Science should submit proposals on this issue.”
