In the Aravan District, schoolchildren study in a mosque and a health post due to the emergency condition of their school.
The head of the Aravan Department of Education, Jakyp Mamajanov, noted that this situation has been observed since September of this year.
“In coordination with the village government, we adapted the vacant building of the mosque for classrooms and transferred part of the students there. The elementary school children are studying in the health post building. The project for the new school has been completed and submitted for expertise. The Capital Construction Department has already announced a tender. Work will begin after the results are finalized. Construction for 150 places is planned,” he clarified.
The head of the village government, Ulmasbek Kadyrov, added that the old school was built in 1968.
“The roof of the school was leaking, and we were forced to transfer the students for their safety. In 2017, the Ministry of Emergency Situations declared the building emergency and unsuitable for education. This facility was included in the title list for funding from the republican budget. Due to a lack of land, the construction of a new school is not feasible, so the old building is subject to demolition and reconstruction. The project will start being developed in 2024,” he said.
Since September, students have been transferred to a school in a neighboring village located 2.5–3 km away. This created inconveniences for the children, and at the request of the residents, they were accommodated in additional three-room buildings of the health post and mosque. There, a heating system was financed by the village government, and necessary conditions were created,” Kadyrov added.
According to available data, the school belongs to the village of Jangy-Abad. Currently, it has 340 students. The village has about 1900 residents, and the number of residential houses is about 300.
