Ministry of Natural Resources: Kyrgyzstan joined two Vienna Conventions on Radiation Safety in 2025

In her speech at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee held on March 9, Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, noted that work is underway in Kyrgyzstan to improve the system of radiation safety and control over nuclear materials.

During the meeting, the results of the ministry's activities for 2025 were discussed.

Raimkulova reported that in 2025, Kyrgyzstan joined two Vienna Conventions related to radiation safety. The updated protocol of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) concerning small quantities of nuclear materials was also ratified.

According to the Deputy Minister, this document defines the procedures for accounting and control of nuclear materials, as well as the application of international guarantees at the national level.

Changes in legislation, as she explained, are aimed at aligning the country's radiation safety system with international standards.
