In the village of Iskra, the landfill is 90% full, - deputy
He noted that the area of the landfill covers 9 hectares and has an environmental passport, but the actual reserves are nearly exhausted.
“The problem is exacerbated by the location of the landfill on the windy side. In the event of a fire, the flames can spread quickly, and services do not always have the opportunity to localize it promptly. This poses a serious threat to the ecology and the health of people in neighboring settlements. We are on the verge of the existing landfill soon ceasing to fulfill its functions,” he emphasized.
Sakkaraev proposed two options for solving the problem: either the construction of a waste recycling plant or the creation of a new landfill with an area of at least 5 hectares. Moreover, the new facility must comply with modern environmental standards, including the presence of a leachate pit, drainage and leachate diversion systems, as well as landfill gas monitoring and fire safety infrastructure. “It is important to transition to civilized waste management,” the deputy added.
