In the village of Iskra, located in the Chuy region, a serious problem has arisen related to the landfill. During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Mederbek Sakkaraev drew attention to this issue.
He pointed out that according to official data, the area of the landfill is 2.9 hectares.
“Currently, the landfill is filled to 99%. Its operational capacity is nearly exhausted. Its location poses an additional danger. The landfill is situated on the windy side, which leads to the rapid spread of fire in case of ignition. Services often do not manage to localize the fire in time, which poses a threat to the ecology and health of local residents,” the deputy noted.
As a solution to the problem, he suggested either building a waste processing plant or creating a new modern landfill; however, this would require a plot of land of at least 5 hectares, he added.
