On February 24, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev met with school directors in Bishkek, where the "Clean City" competition was announced, set to start on March 1.

According to the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh, educational institutions that take prize places in the competition will receive significant rewards. The competition for collecting plastic waste will take place from March 1 to May 1, 2026. The educational institution that collects the most plastic will be declared the winner.

Mamataliyev emphasized the importance of this project, noting that it continues the environmental initiatives proposed by President Sadyr Japarov.

"In recent years, President Sadyr Japarov has initiated a number of major events aimed at protecting the environment, combating climate change, and developing a green economy. Many projects are currently being implemented. I am confident that the 'Clean City' competition will be a logical continuation of these initiatives and will help improve the environmental situation in our capital," he noted.

The Speaker expressed hope for the success of the participating schools and emphasized the need to spread similar initiatives to the regions.

"This competition not only helps maintain cleanliness in the city but also inspires the younger generation towards patriotism, care for the environment, and responsible behavior. Work is the foundation of our children's future; it shapes their responsibility towards society. Therefore, such initiatives should continue in other regions as well. We must make our country a green and prosperous state. As our outstanding predecessor Iskak Razzakov said: 'If you are clean, if I am clean, then society will be clean.' Each of us must care for the ecology and contribute to the development of the country," he added.

The implementation of the project is supported by the Jogorku Kenesh, the Bishkek City Hall, the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan.
