"With each passing year, the smog situation is improving," - Mayor of Bishkek
He added that some people associate the improvement in air quality with warm weather, but in other countries where the climate is even warmer, the level of pollution is significantly higher. He cited Beijing as an example, which ranked second among the most polluted cities in the world on February 12. "They have many resources to address this problem," the mayor emphasized.
Junushaliev also pointed to the impact of dust and landfills on the air quality in the city.
"The municipal inspection continues its work, and over the past year, the level of dust has decreased. The cleaning of riverbeds has also contributed to this," he added.
According to him, comprehensive measures are being taken to combat the smog problem, including the gasification of residential areas, tree planting, and the construction of a waste recycling plant.
