According to Tashybekov, every year there is progress in improving air quality in Bishkek, but the situation still requires attention.

He noted that a comprehensive set of measures is being implemented to combat the smog problem.

“Research shows that the main source of pollution is coal, followed by road transport, and then industrial enterprises,” he added.

According to Tashybekov, by 2025 it is planned to fully gasify 54 out of 105 residential areas. This will allow 52 thousand homes to be connected to natural gas, of which 37 thousand, or 75%, are boiler houses.

“A ban on the use of finely crushed coal has been introduced in Bishkek. As a result, 31 protocols on violations have been drawn up by the Municipal Inspection. There are 468 thousand registered vehicles in the city, and taking into account transit traffic, this number reaches 700 thousand. Public transport has also been updated: instead of about 3000 diesel minibuses, there are now 1447 gas buses and 120 electric buses. In addition, 47 kilometers of bike lanes have been organized and 147 charging stations for electric vehicles have been installed. There are approximately 7000 electric cars in Bishkek,” he reported.

Tashybekov also added that in 2025 it is planned to plant 18 thousand trees. Work is underway to clean riverbeds. An Eco-Technology Plant has been built in the city, which generates electricity by processing solid household waste.
