At the meeting of the permanent commission on economics, budget, finance, and investments, the director of the Department of Urban Economy, Bermet Sydykova, spoke about the creation of a new environmental department within the structure of the department, which has been increased by four employees and began operations in September. The main efforts in the field of ecology are now coordinated in cooperation with the Department of Transport.
Sydykova noted that a "Green City" concept has been developed aimed at improving the ecological situation. Events such as "Green Week," community clean-up days, and various ecological activities, including lectures, seminars, and festivals, are planned for 2026.
In response to the deputy's question about specific steps from the Department of Transport, its head reported that work was carried out last year to install catalysts. As part of a pilot project implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources, catalysts were installed on ten vehicles. Based on the results of this project, it is planned to increase the number of vehicles equipped with catalysts.
