Deputy Criticizes Improper Tree Pruning in Bishkek
According to the deputy, old trees in Bishkek are losing their protective properties, failing to help retain dust, create shade, and protect the city from heat and wind.
The mayor of the capital, Aibek Junushaliev, noted that special attention is being paid to the problem on Auezov Street, where many trees have been improperly pruned or have died. The cause of this has been uncontrolled actions and a lack of proper oversight.
“We inspected Auezov Street and recorded the damaged trees. Currently, the reasons for the improper pruning remain unknown, but we will closely monitor the situation to prevent similar incidents from happening again,” the mayor reported.
Tursunbaev pointed out that simply planting new trees without proper monitoring of their growth and care does not solve the existing problems. “If trees are planted haphazardly and pruned incorrectly, they will be of no use,” the deputy emphasized.
In response, Mayor Junushaliev assured that new plantings will now be strictly controlled, and a system for watering and caring for the plants is being implemented. Citizens will be able to participate in monitoring the growth of trees through a city map. “New plantings must fulfill their ecological functions — retaining dust, creating shade, and improving the microclimate of the city,” he added.
