In March 2023, the tourist-ecological police service of the Issyk-Kul region conducted a successful operation, during which illegal synthetic nets with a total length of 13,900 meters were seized from the waters of the lake.

According to the regional internal affairs department, during the detentions of individuals engaged in illegal fishing, an additional 3,000 meters of nets were confiscated, and 300 fish specimens were handed over to the environmental and technical supervision service. Furthermore, as a result of explanatory work, 31 Chinese synthetic nets were voluntarily surrendered by citizens.

During the reporting period, 34 cases of environmental violations were added to the Unified Register of Crimes. Based on Articles 96 and 97 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, 4 individuals were placed in custody. Investigative actions on 16 criminal cases have been completed, and the materials have been submitted to the court.

Additionally, lawsuits for damage compensation amounting to 572,086 soms have been filed in cases related to environmental crimes.

As part of the efforts to protect the environment, regular activities are conducted to eliminate synthetic nets set by poachers, as well as to clean the coastline from old nets and debris washed ashore. These actions are aimed at improving the state of the lake's ecosystem.

Moreover, the tourist-ecological police officers check the legality of fishermen's activities and actively conduct explanatory events among the population.

One of the most important tools in the fight against illegal fishing is raid inspections, which are carried out both during the day and at night. To identify violators, the police use motor boats and drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras, after which appropriate measures are taken in accordance with the law.
