Iranian authorities have confirmed the death of Ali Larijani, who served as the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. Additionally, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported the death of Major General Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the country's paramilitary forces.

According to earlier statements from Israeli authorities, Ali Larijani was a victim of a missile strike that occurred on the night of March 16-17.

Larijani was considered a leading figure in the Iranian political landscape after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and played a key role in the development of the country's nuclear program.

According to intelligence sources, he was in a hideout, which became the target of the Israeli Air Force strike. A source from the Israeli N12 television channel in the security services noted that Larijani "had no chance of survival" after the attack.

This assassination has raised concerns among Iranian officials regarding their security and the future of the country, as reported by The New York Times. Anxiety is growing in Tehran about who might become the next target of Israeli forces, the article notes.
