The State National Security Committee detained a Pakistani and a medical worker from the National Hospital.
On March 16, in the capital city of Bishkek, SCNS officers detained a citizen of Pakistan known as "A.M.", who was involved in selling medical certificates to local Pakistanis and Bengalis without actual medical examinations.
The investigation believes that one of the employees of the National Hospital, "I.T.V.", assisted him in this illegal activity.
As a result of searches conducted at the residences of "A.M." and the workplace of "I.T.V.", more than 160 counterfeit medical certificates were discovered and seized, which were used to obtain visas allowing foreigners to legally stay in the country.
SCNS emphasizes that in the context of an outbreak of the "Nipah" virus in South Asia, which can have a high mortality rate, the presence of foreign citizens in Kyrgyzstan without medical examination poses a serious threat to the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country and, consequently, to national security.
In this regard, SCNS strongly recommends that foreigners comply with the laws of Kyrgyzstan to avoid negative consequences.
Currently, operational measures are ongoing to identify other participants in the illegal migration scheme.
