Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Supreme Leader of Iran, rejected the U.S. proposal for peace negotiations, which was conveyed through two intermediaries. This was reported by an anonymous high-ranking source in the Iranian leadership, as informed by The Times of Israel.

At a recent meeting of the country's top leadership, Khamenei noted that as long as the U.S. and Israel do not acknowledge their defeat and do not pay compensation, "there will be no suitable time for peace." The source did not specify whether the new Supreme Leader was present at the meeting in person.

It is worth recalling that earlier information emerged that Mojtaba Khamenei, who was injured as a result of U.S. and Israeli attacks on February 28, is receiving treatment in Moscow. Russian authorities have not commented on this information.

According to foreign media outlets such as Axios and Drop Site News, Iran and the U.S. have begun to resume direct contacts, reports Meduza. According to Axios, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent messages to U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff regarding the cessation of hostilities. A source from Drop Site News claimed that Witkoff attempted to establish contact; however, Araghchi denied this information on the social network X, stating that he does not maintain communication with Witkoff. "Any statements in this regard are likely aimed at misleading the public and oil traders," he noted.

On March 14, Reuters sources reported that U.S. authorities rejected initiatives from Middle Eastern countries to start negotiations to end the conflict. On March 16, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran had indeed contacted the U.S., but it is unclear whether the Iranian officials involved have the authority to make agreements.

On the morning of February 28, Israel and the U.S. struck Iran. Donald Trump announced intentions to destroy the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.

In response to these actions, Iran began striking U.S. facilities and military bases in Israel and other countries in the region, including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Riyadh.

As a result of the U.S.-Israeli attack, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed, according to sources.

Donald Trump stated that military actions in Iran would last about four weeks. A jihad was declared against the U.S. and Israel in Iran, emphasizing that there would be no negotiations.

The conflict in the Middle East has global consequences, including for Kyrgyzstan. Currently, thousands of tourists are stranded in the UAE due to the conflict. Contact information for Kyrgyz citizens abroad is available via the link.
