Manas Sydygaliev, head of the Road Safety Department (RSD) of the regional Internal Affairs Directorate, noted that the vehicles most often involved in incidents are of the brands "Hyundai" and "Kia".
He also emphasized that the main factor influencing the number of accidents is the condition of the drivers. "There are 380 kilometers of the Bishkek—Osh road in the Jalal-Abad region. Drivers coming from Batken or Bishkek often arrive in our region in a state of severe fatigue. Fatigue and lack of concentration can lead to serious consequences. Statistics confirm that 87% of traffic accidents occur due to driver error," said Sydygaliev.
The road situation in the region remains challenging. Last year, the region recorded:
- 742 traffic accidents;
- 177 fatalities;
- 1267 injured with various injuries.
Currently, RSD employees are actively conducting preventive measures and explanatory talks with drivers, aiming to reduce the number of accidents and prevent new tragedies on the roads.
