Earlier, several international news sources reported that the Iranian authorities had already chosen Mojtaba as the new Supreme Leader. However, Ayatollah Hossein Mozaffari told reporters that the meeting of the Assembly of Experts, where the new leader will be elected, will take place within the next 24 hours.
“Members of the Assembly of Experts are eagerly awaiting the conditions to hold a meeting, discuss, and elect the new Supreme Leader and successor to the martyr Imam. We hope this will happen within the next 24 hours,” Mozaffari's words are quoted by the Fars agency.
He also noted that the Assembly of Experts has not yet held any meetings and urged the people of Iran not to spread false rumors about the appointment of a new leader.
At this time, there is no official confirmation regarding the injuries of Mojtaba Khamenei.
