Fraudsters posing as law enforcement officers stole over 11 million soms from a Bishkek resident

In Bishkek, employees of the Sverdlovsk District Department of Internal Affairs detained suspects in a fraud case, as a result of which a local resident lost over 11 million soms. This was reported by the press service of the department.

On February 20, a woman named L.K. approached the Department of Internal Affairs, stating that from February 16 to 19, she received calls via the WhatsApp messenger from individuals posing as employees of the State National Security Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan.

The criminals, pretending to be law enforcement officers, tried to convince her of the necessity of conducting a "check" and "ensuring the safety of funds," as a result of which she was deceived and transferred 11 million 275 thousand soms to them.

In connection with this incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 209 "Fraud" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. During operational activities, the suspects were detained: T.K. (born in 2007), A.M. (born in 2006), and A.K. (born in 2003), who acted as so-called droppers.

The suspects have been placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Department of Internal Affairs. Currently, investigative actions are ongoing to identify other possible participants in this fraudulent scheme.
