Fraudulent GKNB employees deceived a Bishkek resident out of 12 million soms

In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, law enforcement agencies detained three young men suspected of fraudulent activities, as a result of which a 70-year-old pensioner lost 12 million soms. According to information provided by the police, the fraudsters posed as employees of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) and, under various pretexts, gained access to the elderly citizen's money.

As reported by the Bishkek City Police Department, on February 20, the victim approached law enforcement, stating that the fraudsters, pretending to be employees of the GKNB of the Kyrgyz Republic, deceitfully obtained a significant sum of money from him.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Article 209 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. They turned out to be a 19-year-old, a 20-year-old, and a 23-year-old resident of the capital, who were placed in a temporary detention facility.

Currently, investigative actions are underway to clarify all the circumstances of the case and the possible involvement of other individuals in the crime.

The police remind that employees of state institutions do not have the right to request bank card details, account information, or confirmation codes. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and not to provide access to their financial accounts. If anyone encounters similar offers, they should immediately report it by calling 102.
