The State National Security Committee thwarted an attempt to create underground religious cells in the country

The State National Security Service of Kyrgyzstan has thwarted the actions of a foreign citizen adhering to radical religious views. He intended to create underground groups by recruiting local youth. After his detention, he was expelled from the country and banned from re-entry for a long period.

The press service of the State National Security Committee reported that this citizen had recently arrived in Kyrgyzstan and was attempting to instill radical ideas among the youth.

The State Committee reminds foreign citizens of the necessity to strictly adhere to the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic and not to engage in missionary activities without appropriate registration with the authorized bodies.

The ban also extends to religious sermons conducted through mass media, social networks, mobile applications, and other digital platforms.

The agency emphasized that non-compliance with legislation in the religious sphere may lead to criminal and administrative liability.
