According to Pajhwok Afghan News, local authorities in Parwan province conducted an event during which more than 500 musical instruments and related items were burned. This statement was made by the Department for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
The head of the mentioned department, Mawlavi Maqbul Ahmad Waqas, told Pajhwok in an interview that over the past year, musical instruments and attributes were collected mainly in the provincial center and surrounding areas, which, in the opinion of the authorities, did not comply with Sharia norms, as they were used in dances and celebrations.
Waqas added that the burning of the musical instruments took place in the Gulkan district with the participation of representatives from the provincial administration and intelligence agencies. He also urged citizens to avoid using items that they believe contradict Sharia laws.
