Foreigners detained in Georgia while attempting to purchase nuclear substances for $3 million
In Kutaisi, Georgia, two foreigners were detained while attempting to purchase nuclear substances, including uranium and the radionuclide cesium-137, for a total of $3 million. This information was provided by Lasha Magradze, the First Deputy Head of the State Security Service of Georgia.
According to Magradze, the investigation revealed that the detainees had repeatedly traveled to Georgia in recent weeks with the aim of organizing the purchase and transportation of nuclear and radioactive materials to another country.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under the article concerning "illegal trafficking in nuclear materials, radioactive waste, and substances" of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

As part of a special operation conducted in various regions of the country over the past day and a half, 29 individuals have been detained, who are subjects of 13 criminal cases.
