In 2025, Kyrgyzstan registered 3,757 fire incidents, resulting in the loss of 53 lives. This was reported by Azamat Mambetov, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, at a briefing held on February 13 in Bishkek.
The total material damage from these fires amounted to 2 billion 71 million soms. Compared to 2024, the number of fires increased by 19%, the number of victims rose by 17%, and losses from fires increased by 2.5 times.
Throughout 2025, the country experienced 14 major emergencies, claiming the lives of 32 people. The damage from these incidents amounted to 60 million soms. Additionally, 4,424 emergency incidents were recorded, which is 16% more than the previous year. The material losses from these events reached 2 billion 30 million soms, which is double the figures of 2024. The majority of incidents were related to fires.
As Mambetov noted, the increase in the number of incidents is due to several factors. First and foremost, it is mass urbanization, where people build in hazardous areas where construction should not take place. Secondly, the development of the economy and industry leads to increased material losses in fires. In 2025, significant fires occurred in various locations, primarily in markets, which substantially increased the overall damage, the deputy minister explained.
Overall, 2025 was a difficult year in terms of emergencies. Despite a decrease in the number of mudflows due to drought compared to the previous year, the total number of incidents significantly increased, he added.
