The Louvre has displayed the crown of Empress Eugenie for the first time since the theft incident. Recall that the robbery occurred on October 19, when the criminals hastily left the crown on the street, reports DW.

The Louvre was robbed in Paris and jewelry was stolen

According to information provided by the museum, the damaged crown was shown to the public for the first time.

The diadem, belonging to the wife of Napoleon III, suffered significant damage: one of the eight golden eagles is missing, and ten out of 1354 diamonds are gone. However, all 56 emeralds remain intact.
The Louvre intends to restore the crown and will soon announce a competition among restorers. The advisory committee will include representatives from jewelry brands such as Cartier, Mellerio, Chaumet, Boucheron, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
