An explosion occurred in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, near a Shia mosque, resulting in the deaths of at least 31 people, while many others were injured. This incident took place on February 6 during Friday prayers, according to international news agencies.

According to available data, the explosion occurred in the Tarlai Kalan area. The investigation is considering the version that it was a terrorist attack involving a suicide bomber. Preliminary information suggests that the suspect was stopped at the entrance to the mosque, after which he activated the explosive device.

Hundreds of worshippers were inside the building at the time of the explosion. The injured were taken to medical facilities in the capital, and some of them are in critical condition.
Authorities fear that the death toll may rise.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Security forces have cordoned off the area of the incident, an investigation has been initiated, and security measures have been significantly strengthened.
