In the city of Kyzyl-Kiya, a 20-year-old guy was taken to an old car market and extorted for money — police conducted arrests
According to information from the press service of the Batken Regional Internal Affairs Department, on January 20, 2026, a 20-year-old resident of the village of Airybaz in the Kadamjai district approached the police. In his statement, he reported that on January 7, around 10:00 PM in Kyzyl-Kiya, he was forcibly placed into a "Daewoo Lanos" car by a citizen named Ө. and three of his accomplices. Threatening him with a knife, they demanded 50,000 soms.
The criminals also took his iPhone 8 mobile phone and forced him, through third parties, to transfer 5,000 soms. Additionally, by threatening him via messenger, they compelled him to top up a mobile number balance with 5,000 soms and continued attempts to extort the remaining amount.
A criminal case has been opened regarding this incident under Article 208 ("Extortion") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of operational-search activities carried out by the officers of the Drug Control Service of the Batken Regional Internal Affairs Department, on January 27, six residents of Kyzyl-Kiya were detained in the village of Kaltak (within the Uch-Korgon rural district of the Kadamjai district), including 20-year-old M.Ө., as well as 22-year-olds G.N., M.S., S.J., 24-year-old A.B., and another citizen.
Following the investigation, M.Ө., G.N., and M.S. were placed in a temporary detention facility based on the grounds provided for in Articles 96–97 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The investigation is ongoing.
