Spain extradited to Kazakhstan a former customs officer who fled three years ago

The suspect, who is charged with abuse of power and forgery, was extradited at Kazakhstan's request.
According to the investigation, in 2020, while being a customs officer, he entered false information into the database, allowing the owners of eight vehicles to evade customs duties totaling more than 45 million tenge.
After three years of fleeing and being on the international wanted list, the suspect was detained in Spain at the request of Interpol, which came from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
Currently, the former customs officer has been placed in a detention center in Astana.
For the aforementioned crimes, he faces a punishment of up to seven years in prison, as well as confiscation of property and a lifetime ban on holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities.
