Currently, a forensic medical examination is being conducted, the results of which are awaited.
Recall that the fire occurred on January 6 in the palliative care unit of the facility. As a result of the incident, two severely ill patients died. In addition, according to the Ministry of Health, 14 people were hospitalized but were later discharged.
The director of the nursing home, Baktygul Zhankalieva, shared information about the deceased.
“One of them, O.Sh., was admitted to the facility in September 2024 from the 'Kolomto' shelter without any documents. We helped him obtain a passport, and that’s when we discovered his real last name. After the incident, his relatives from Talas found him; they had been searching for him for seven years, believing he was dead. He has a son and a daughter who stated that they have no claims and took the body for burial in Talas,” she said.
The second deceased, V.D., was from the village of Tepke in the Ak-Suu district and suffered from alcohol dependence. After his second stroke, he became disabled and was admitted to the nursing home in June 2019. His relatives could not be found, and V.D.'s funeral in the village of Grozd was organized by the facility,” Zhankalieva added.
At the meeting, the deputies emphasized the need for a legal assessment of the incident, considering that two people died.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fire, and investigative actions are ongoing.
