Death of an infant in the Uzgen district: police have appointed an examination
According to law enforcement agencies, on January 21, the Uzgen police department received a report from a local hospital about the death of a child who was born on November 11, 2025. The cause of death was a severe condition caused by anemia. A fact has been registered, and a preliminary investigation has been initiated, during which witnesses to the incident have already been interviewed.
“An examination has been appointed to clarify the circumstances of the infant's death. A decision will be made based on its results,” the police noted.
Topics for reflection
In Uzgen, the infant was subjected to incisions on the back. He passed away.
It was previously reported that the cause of the tragedy could have been the use of hijama (bloodletting). In the hospital, doctors recorded a sharp decrease in the newborn's hemoglobin level — down to 43, as well as significant blood loss.
In the past, there have been cases in Kyrgyzstan of health deterioration and fatalities following hijama procedures.
The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic has repeatedly warned citizens against using the hijama method. The agency emphasizes that this is not a licensed medical procedure in the country and highlights the risks of infection transmission through blood.
