A two-month-old infant tragically passed away in Uzgen after undergoing hijama. This was reported by the director of the Uzgen Center for General Medical Practice, Bermet Masadykova, in an interview with the Kabar agency.
According to the doctor, the infant was brought to the intensive care unit in critical condition from the village of Ak-Zhar in the Kara-Shoro rural administration. She added that the cause of the child's death was significant blood loss.
"The parents took the baby to a folk healer, where incisions were made on his back. He was admitted to the hospital with a very low hemoglobin level — only 45. The bleeding was so severe that, despite all our efforts, we could not save him. The child was admitted to the hospital at night and, unfortunately, passed away in the morning. We notified the law enforcement authorities about the incident," Masadykova said.
The press secretary of the Osh regional police department, Taalaybek Baitikov, confirmed that this case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated. Those involved in the infant's death will be held legally accountable in accordance with the laws based on the results of the collected materials and expertise.
