"This is a disease with metastases": Deputy on the drug threat to schoolchildren
She emphasized that more and more young people aged 12 to 16 are getting involved in illegal activities, which raises serious concerns.
Although Kozhokulova noted the positive efforts of law enforcement agencies and special services, she urged the prosecutor's office to take a more active role in the fight against drug crime and not remain in the shadows.
“We are seeing alarming trends where schoolchildren become part of the network distributing synthetic drugs. This is a disease metastasizing throughout society,” the deputy expressed her opinion.
She also insisted on the need for urgent and comprehensive actions from the government to unite the efforts of law enforcement agencies, special services, the prosecutor's office, as well as the Ministries of Education and Health.
Kozhokulova is convinced that all state structures must actively participate in the prevention and suppression of drug crimes among youth.
The deputy also touched on the consequences that synthetic drugs can have for the younger generation, emphasizing their severity and danger. In this regard, she called on the prosecutor's office to expand its functions and pay more attention to the situation among minors, rather than only dealing with issues of corruption or business control.
“There is an impression that there is a systematic effort to involve young people in addiction to synthetic drugs. This issue should become a priority of state policy,” Kozhokulova concluded.
