According to witnesses, the road traffic accident happened today, January 14, around 10:00 on the bridge in the village of Kırpsay. Traffic on the road was restricted for more than an hour.
At the moment, the road is open in one direction, and vehicles can pass through the area where the oil has spilled.
It is known that a heavy truck carrying fuel and lubricants was traveling from Bishkek towards Osh and overturned on the bridge, losing control.
The Department of Road Safety of the Jalal-Abad Regional Internal Affairs Directorate confirmed that information about the accident is currently being clarified. At this time, it is unknown how much oil has entered the Naryn River.
The head of the Jalal-Abad Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, Durusbek Zalimbekov, reported that environmental specialists have been sent to the scene to take water samples. The damage will be assessed later, and administrative protocols will be drawn up against those responsible based on the results of the inspection.
It should be noted that the Naryn River is used as a source of drinking and irrigation water for the residents of Tash-Kumyr, Shamaldy-Say, as well as the population of the rural district of Üch-Korgon in the Aksy district.
