On January 11, a 48-year-old woman found herself in a difficult situation at sea, while a 23-year-old girl nearby was taken to the hospital.
The police received a report of the incident around 12:40. According to preliminary information, several passersby helped the women and pulled them from the water, providing first aid, the media reports.
Despite the victims being taken to a medical facility, the woman could not be saved. The publication notes that the condition of the second girl is assessed as stable, and the investigation is ongoing under the supervision of local authorities.
On social media, information appeared from the husband of the deceased and the father of the injured. He reported that he is currently far from his loved ones. According to him, his wife and daughter were swept away by the sea, and all their documents and phones were lost. The man is reaching out for help from Kyrgyz and Kazakh people in Malta, asking for support and contact.
