From March 23 to 31, 2026, the VIII International Theater Festival "Samsun" will take place in Turkey, in which the Bishkek City Drama Theater named after Arsen Umuraliev will participate. This was reported by the mayor's office of the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
The event is timed to coincide with World Theater Day and will gather theater groups of various levels—from state to amateur—from around the world.
As part of the festival, on March 27, the theater will present the premiere of its season—a tragicomic parable "Takteke," based on the work of the famous folk poet Kiyalbek Urmanbetov.
The performance tells a philosophical story of a person who has lost connection with nature and faced internal conflicts. This production harmoniously combines elements of ancient epic and modern artistic approaches, while its deep meaning is complemented by lively humor.
It is worth noting that "Takteke" has already gained recognition from audiences in Bishkek and will now be presented on the international stage.
