The Israeli Defense Minister stated that the Iranian intelligence minister was killed as a result of the Israeli strike.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the elimination of Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Qatib as a result of an Israeli strike.
According to Katz, the IDF now has the right to eliminate any Iranian official without the need for additional approval. These statements were made at a press conference and reported by Clash Report.
“Today we can expect significant surprises in various areas that will elevate the conflict to a new level…
We have granted the Israel Defense Forces the authority to eliminate any Iranian official as soon as a ‘targeting circle’ is established, without the need for additional approval,” Katz noted.
Esmail Qatib held a key position in the Iranian security system as the Minister of Intelligence. He is also known as a religious leader and has worked for many years in Iranian intelligence services. Qatib played an important role in areas such as internal security, counterintelligence, and controlling anti-government movements.
He was appointed Minister of Intelligence by President Ebrahim Raisi in 2021 and has since become one of the central figures in Iran's internal and external security issues. The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence performs a strategic function in protecting the regime, monitoring opposition groups, and managing actions against external threats.
Qatib, who rarely appears in public, is more associated with covert operations and state security issues.
According to media reports, preparations are underway in Iran for the funerals of high-profile officials killed in airstrikes.
Today in Tehran, a funeral ceremony will be held for the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and the leader of the Basij paramilitary force Gholamreza Soleimani, as reported by the Tasnim news agency, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The ceremony, which will begin at 1:30 PM local time at Enghelab Square in Tehran, will also commemorate 84 sailors who died on March 4 when the Iranian ship IRIS Dena was sunk by a torpedo from the United States.
Last Tuesday, Iran reported that Larijani and Soleimani were killed as a result of Israeli attacks, to which Iranian Army Commander Amir Hatami promised a “decisive response.”
