Azamat Jamangulov explained how the G-Cloud cloud platform works

On the air of Birinchi Radio, the Minister of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic, Azamat Jamangulov, explained in detail how the state cloud platform G-Cloud functions.

He noted that the initiative for the digitalization of government agencies required each ministry to take action within their resources and capabilities. Each agency independently purchased computers and organized digitalization on them, which led to data fragmentation.

“In simple terms, each ministry collected information about citizens on their computers, creating numerous separate data storage systems. This resulted in information about each person being stored in different places, on different devices, which can be described as a technological zoo,” the minister explained.

Jamangulov emphasized that G-Cloud addresses the problem of data storage, as now personal and identification information of citizens will be concentrated in one place, rather than scattered across multiple computers.

Moreover, he added that interaction between various government agencies has become more efficient. Previously, information exchange required connecting individual computers, but now it is carried out through a unified platform.

“As I mentioned, we strive to create proactive government services, which require fast integrations and information exchange between government structures,” he noted.

The minister also highlighted security issues, asserting that G-Cloud primarily ensures the protection of citizens' personal data. He clarified that the project was implemented with the support of the World Bank and the Korean organization KOICA, which introduced advanced technologies in the field of cybersecurity.

Jamangulov added that despite the importance of these changes, the population may not be aware of them. “Citizens cannot see or touch this infrastructure for public administration, but everything they receive through the mobile application ‘Tunduk’ operates precisely on the basis of G-Cloud,” he explained.

He also reported on the current work to create data backup storage, emphasizing that such infrastructure should be duplicated twice. “This includes a backup data processing center and a third one that will store information on separate media, so that in case of emergencies when the two main centers fail, the third data source can be used,” the minister added.
